Deep Church

Jim Belcher, the lead pastor at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach, California, took a look at the debate between "The Emergent Church" movement and "The Traditional Church" stance, and has proposed a third option, which he refers to as (the title of his book) Deep Church.

C.S. Lewis used the phrase "deep church" in his book Mere Christianity.  By these words, he meant the body of believers who is committed to living out mere Christianity together.

According to Belcher's website,  a deep church will be known as "a missional church committed to both tradition and culture, valuing innovation in worship, arts and community but also creeds and confessions."
